Spciy Chickpea Sundal

Spciy Chickpea Sundal

What more would you like to have in this chilling winter? Something, Hot, Spicy and yummy?? Then I bet you go for this as evening snack!!

Chickpea is widely used in Ramdhan At my home I dont have any idea on why it is counted upon as Ramdhan delight in my family and relatives! I dont know if its the same across the globe, May be due to high nutritional value? truely no idea :P What I know is to enjoy!!

But to enjoy this we need a perfect spicy taste! When I was fasting for Muhrram last month, I decided to make chickpea sundal for myself and came up with my own version here. It was really really yummy and Im sharing it with you guys, If anywhere around you find urself with extra boiled chickpea do not waste it, instead make this and relish the delight

Ingredients:
Chickpea - 2cup (soak overnight & boiled)
Onion - 1 large/ 2 medium size (chopped)
Tomato - 1 large / 2 medium size (chopped)
Green chillies - 2 Or more chopped depending on ur taste for spice
Ginger garlic paste - 1tsp heaped
Turmeric powder - a pinch (optional)
Garam Masala - little more than 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Lemon juice from half lemon
Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp
Coriander to garnish

Method:
- Heat oil in a wok, Add onion and green chillies, saute for a min or two in medium flame till onion is just little translucent.
- Add GG paste and give a stir, saute this a little till the raw smell start emitting.
- When u feel its getting stick to the bottom do not worry, keep stirring, next add tomatoes, turmeric powder, garam and salt.
- Close the lid of pan/wok and Cook in medium flame till tomatoes become mushy, oil is almost separating and nice aroma is emitted, you can check for spice at this point, if there is no spice from green chillies, you can add red chilli powder according to your taste and adjust it.
- Add the boiled Channa/ Chickpea and mix it well. Allow it heat up along with the mixture so that it gets well coated with onion tomato mixture.
- Now add tomato ketchup and mix it well.
- Add coriander leaves and squeeze the lemon juice over the cooked chickpea and give a stir!
- Serve it hot / in room temp it will not fail to trigger your taste buds :)

A closer Look ;)

Notes:

- All the ingredients mentioned above is regular things available at every home so u dont have to panic if ever u wish to try.
-You can always adjust the spices at any point of time while cooking, making sure it is cooked and coats well evenly to the whole batch of chickpea
-Also usage of tomato ketchup and lemon juice can be according to your taste. The measurement I had give is just moderate level perfect for my taste. You can go ahead with your own adjustments
- Do not skip garam masala, It brings out a very unique taste. so garam masala level should be in moderate and not too much it may spoil the taste. But still if you dont have garam masala go ahead without it, still it will taste gud
- The whole concept was to give this snack a nice chatpata taste with Proper Spice and Tanginess at the same time ketchup would give some compensation of its sweetness to balance the spiciness

Do try this simple thing and enjoy yourself a healthy Dietary Food!!
