Onion Pakoda

Onion Pakoda

If you havent tasted this, its time u should :)
Onion Pakoda / Onion Pakodi / Kanda Pakodi / Piyaju etc etc many names but one and only delicacy which can win hearts, A gud T time snacks, or for monsoon temptations along with hot cup of T & Coffee. One among the iftar Ideas During Ramdhan

I love normal pakodas with onion and potato but this was the 1st time to bring my imagination into reality of only onion pakodas which i wanted to try from long. Since im fasting for shabaan last week I had certain craze for having deep fried snacks and here it goes :)

3 large onion - sliced
2 green chillies - chopped
1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
1 1/2cup besan/ gram flour + more if needed
Water - little if needed
Salt to taste
Ginger chopped - 1-2 tsp
Rice flour -1tsp (optional)
some coriander leaves if you like
Some chopped curry leaves (gives nice aroma & flavor)
Oil for deep frying

- In a large bowl take sliced onions and add salt use hands and mash it well in squeezing method onion will leave its own juices.
- Add in rest of the ingredients and mix it well in squeezing method u need to spend some energy to give it a nice binding, If you need you can add or subtract gram flour or add a little water to bind it but still make sure the mixture is dry enough but still is able to hold onions

see the pic below
The above and the below pic is perfect example when the whole mixture can be moves as a lump

and also can be taken to put as pakoras in oil

- Take oil in a pan heat it, and drop in these mixture loosely no need to give exact shape or anything, the more loosely u put in and fry the more crispier result u get, Fry in medium flame till cooked well and golden brown in color.

- Remove from oil into tissue or kitchen town and serve it hot with ketchup

These pakoras dint soak up too much oil though :) since the mixture was in dry form

Though it was tasty sometimes I face problem to click picture in exact format how they are :P So just dont trust the pic you can trust the recipe, Try out ur self and enjoy this lovely thing :)

Though this pakoda dosent need cooking soda, I did added a little dont know why :P its your wish but even if its not added it wont make difference, we dont need soft pakoras, the end result of these pakoda's should be biteable and crispy :)

All the flavors were in tact and me and my mom enjoyed the flavors :) I felt I want more and more, I kept some for my dad too :)
